Conference Topics

The 1st International Conference on Sustainable & Smart Cities (ICSSC 2026) brings together researchers, academics, engineers, industry professionals, policymakers, and students working at the intersection of urban sustainability, digital innovation, resilient infrastructure, and inclusive development.

The conference welcomes original contributions across a broad range of themes, including, but not limited to, the following tracks:

Track 1: Health, Well-Being, Air/Water Quality, and Health-Secure Cities

This track focuses on healthy, safe, and climate-adaptive cities through the integration of environmental quality, public health, and resilience planning. Topics include urban health and well-being, air quality monitoring and exposure assessment, water quality and water security, heat risk and urban heat islands, flood risk and stormwater management, health security and early warning systems, nature-based solutions, and continuity of critical services.

Track 2: Affordable and Clean Energy, Smart Grids, and Efficient Buildings

This track addresses the green transition through clean energy systems, smart grids, and high-performance buildings. Topics include renewable energy, distributed energy resources and storage, smart grids and demand response, forecasting and grid optimization, building efficiency and retrofitting, electrification, district energy systems, energy communities, and issues related to affordability and energy poverty.

Track 3: Smart Mobility, Transportation, and Urban Accessibility

This track explores safer, more inclusive, and low-carbon mobility systems. Topics include multimodal mobility, integrated transport planning, public transport performance and safety, active mobility and micromobility, accessibility and inclusive design, traffic management, intelligent transportation systems, urban logistics, and mobility-related health impacts.

Track 4: Innovative Sustainable Materials and Resilient Infrastructure

This track focuses on low-carbon construction materials and durable infrastructure solutions for climate resilience and circular development. Topics include low-carbon cement and concrete, alternative binders, recycled and bio-based materials, circular construction, life cycle assessment, embodied carbon, durability and maintenance, lifecycle design, resilient infrastructure, and standards, validation, and pilot implementation.

Track 5: AI, Digital, and Data-Driven Governance for Smart Cities

This track highlights the role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in improving urban planning, governance, and service delivery. Topics include AI and machine learning for analytics and decision support, digital twins, GIS, remote sensing, IoT, interoperability and data platforms, privacy and ethics, data governance, impact assessment, participatory planning, co-design, and policy evaluation.
