The International Research Conference: Aims and Objectives

The 1st International Conference on Sustainable & Smart Cities (ICSSC 2026) is a new annual event dedicated to advancing research and dialogue on the future of sustainable and smart urban development. Its first edition is jointly organized by the University of Tunis El Manar, the University of Sousse, the University of Picardie, and the Smart Cities Institute, in collaboration with academic partners from Europe and Africa.

ICSSC 2026 aims to become a leading international platform bringing together researchers, scientists, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and students from around the world to share research findings, exchange ideas, and address the key challenges and opportunities involved in building smarter and more sustainable cities.

The first edition of ICSSC 2026 will be held in Hammamet, Tunisia, from November 23 to 25, 2026. Located on the Mediterranean coast, Hammamet offers an inspiring setting where tradition and innovation meet. The conference will feature keynote lectures, invited sessions, special sessions, workshops, and parallel technical sessions, providing participants with opportunities to engage with leading experts, discover recent advances, and explore practical solutions for the cities of tomorrow.

By launching ICSSC 2026, its organizing institutions are creating a new space for collaboration and knowledge exchange across Europe and Africa, fostering dialogue among academia, industry, and public policy stakeholders. This inaugural edition will place particular emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation and cross-sector engagement in order to support meaningful progress in sustainable urban development.

Call for Invited and Special Sessions

ICSSC 2026 welcomes proposals for invited and special sessions related to the conference themes and other relevant topics within its scope. These sessions are intended to highlight specific research areas and encourage focused discussion on emerging issues and interdisciplinary challenges.

Researchers interested in proposing and organizing an invited or special session are invited to send their proposals by email to icssc2026@icssc.eu. All proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Committee.

Journal recommendation

After the review process, accepted manuscripts (6–8 pages) will be published in the edited proceedings (SCOPUS indexed) corresponding to their scope. In addition, high-quality papers may be invited for submission to relevant international journals (special or regular issues), including those published by SPRINGER, subject to further peer review.
